Looking After Your Burn Scar

Some burns can leave you with a scar for the rest of your life. There are some things you can do during the healing process to help minimise the appearance of your burn scar:

  • While the skin heals, keep the area clean and don’t apply any creams or greasy substances.†

  • Don’t burst any blisters as this can lead to infection.†

  • You should try to avoid exposing the damaged skin to direct sunlight as this may cause it to blister. It’s especially sensitive during the first year after the injury.†

  • Your healthcare professional will advise you about the best way to care for your burn.†

  • After your burn has healed you can apply a silicone treatment such as KELO-COTE® Spray. The spray formulation can be applied to the scar without rubbing or touching.

KELO-COTE® Scar Treatment

KELO-COTE® is an advanced formula silicone treatment for the management and prevention of scars.
